Major Russian Strikes Eliminate Electricity In Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered interruptions to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets attacked energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the city endured intense attacks overnight. A minor lost their life and several individuals were hurt.

The assaults follow periods of aerial attacks in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
