Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour title, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
